Sue Averell grew up in Southern California where she attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. There she gained an in-depth knowledge of the importance of drawing, composition, painting technique, and color theory. A professional painter for nearly three decades, Sue Averell’s vibrant and whimsical paintings are renowned for their dramatic color, texture and expressive, flowing lines. Sue’s urban landscape and botanical works have been sold in galleries across the country and internationally.
In 2016 Sue began to create a new body of work on three dimensional surfaces. These mixed media pieces are both wall installations and free-standing tower shapes. Her latest series explores a variety of themes including urban and natural landscape, botanical scenes, figurative and fantasy while incorporating steel, paint and ceramics to describe the visual story. Sue Averell’s impressive and ever-evolving body of work continually captivates collectors. This new series is no exception, and several are now part of private collections in the United States and Canada.
